The rate of employment in Placer County continues to outpace that of California and the U.S. as a whole.

Placer County’s unemployment rate, according to recent numbers from the Employment Development Department, is 2.8 percent. California’s unemployment rate is 4.2 percent and the U.S. unemployment rate is 3.9 percent. In December, we reported that Placer County’s unemployment rate was at 3.5 percent, which at the time was also lower than California and the U.S.

In terms of cities within Placer County, Rocklin and Roseville have the lowest rates of unemployment – each sit at 2.6 percent.

Several health care facility expansions are helping to boost the number of jobs available in the area. There will be three expansions at Adventist Health, Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health in Placer County over the next several years.

Placer County is quickly becoming one of the best places to live in all of California and has received some of the highest marks for a county outside of the Bay Area in terms of the area’s schools, businesses and available recreational activities. That is why it was recently named the No. 1 county in California in terms of quality of life!
