Skiers rejoice! The Placer County Board of Supervisors has approved moving forward with a gondola that would connect Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley.

The project, which still needs approval from the U.S. Forest Service, will have two mid-stations and two base terminals, and be placed within the ski areas between each resort. When completed, the gondola would deliver a 16-minute travel time from Squaw Valley to Alpine Meadows.

Many residents in Placer County visit the Lake Tahoe area in the winter months for the amazing skiing opportunities. The lake, which is one of the largest in the country, is a destination for residents and tourists alike, who come from all over the world. In addition to skiing, the area offers great boating, hiking and biking opportunities.

With potential improvements to the skiing experience via this gondola project, living near Lake Tahoe makes even more sense. Having Lake Tahoe in Placer County is another reason why we love the area.
