Looking for something to do on the weekends this summer in Placer County? The museums have you covered!

That is because every Saturday this summer several local museums will be offering free admission. New to the participating museums this year are the Placer County Museums Archives, Truckee Old Jail Museum, Truckee Railroad Museum and the Loomis Basin Historical Society. In total, 26 museums from Roseville to Lake Tahoe are participating.

The Heritage Trail Museums Tour as it is known as, began on June 15 and will be available until Sept. 7. Several of the museums will have live music available, historical reenactments and other activities on these Saturdays.

If you go to several museums you can grab a “Get Up and Go” card, which is a stamp card. If you get stamps from eight museums you are entered to win a gift basket!
