Ohio-based Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream is bringing its frozen treats to Roseville with a new location near the Westfield Galleria in 2021.

Since 1943, Handel’s has served ice cream, yogurt and sherbet, offering handmade pops, banana splits, sundaes, milkshakes and other frozen goodies. Handel’s makes its ice cream on site with fresh ingredients.

The company got started selling its ice cream creations with homemade fruit at a gas station in Youngstown, Ohio before it blossomed and expanded into several states with more than 100 flavors.

The family-operated business hopes to offer a safe and inviting environment for families to come together for ice cream, especially during this challenging time when comfort food can go a long way. Patio seating is planned for the new location.

Handel’s menu covers a lot of ground and features specialty sundaes topped with hot fudge and seasonal toppings, such as peach shortcake, hot apple dumpling and strawberry. Other toppings include caramel, marshmallow, pineapple and other syrups and fruits.

For those who can’t pick just one favorite flavor, Handel’s makes it easy with its four-scoop ice cream sampler.

Ice cream lovers can also order Handel’s Hurricane, the company’s world-famous soft vanilla ice cream candy blend. Customers can pick from some of their favorite chocolates, including Butterfinger, M&M’s, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and other sugary mixtures.

This is Handel’s second regional location and is slated to open in Roseville sometime next spring.

Placer County is full of wonderful places to eat. It is yet another reason why so many like to call the region home.
