Placer County is once again showing how much it cares.

The Income Tax Assistance Program is currently looking for volunteers to help low-income individuals and families prepare for tax season.

In conjunction with United Way and the IRS, individuals are rolling up their sleeves to offer free tax assistance so families can maximize their tax refunds.

Volunteers will undergo four days of online training. Then, they can select when they’ll be available to a family in need. And remember, no experience is necessary to lend a helping hand.

What makes this program so special is that volunteers will work one-on-one with others. In the end, families will have access to more resources and the local economy will be better for it, as well.

Last year, the program generated more than $600,000 in refunds for hundreds of residents of Placer County.
