Tax season is right around the corner, and if you are a Placer County resident who may need help filing your taxes this year, you are in luck!
Placer County Health and Human Services is offering free tax help to low-income individuals and families. The program is a partnership between the IRS and United Way, via the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program assists workers who need a wage-earned income tax credit, which is a tax credit that is refundable for low- to moderate-income working residents/families. Trained volunteers will provide the service to those who earned below $60,000 last year.
According to the county, last year the program resulted in residents across the region getting more than $500,000 in returns.
It is great community programs like this that prove this is an area that looks after each other.
