The U.S. economy has been performing in high gear for years, especially when it comes to its unemployment numbers.

Placer County is doing even better, with a 2.7 percent unemployment rate.

The number beats out neighboring counties of El Dorado, Nevada, Sacramento and Yolo. Nevada County is at 2.9 percent.

According to the California Employment Development Department, Placer County ranks 10th among counties across the state.

Out of a workforce of around 190,000 people, about 5,000 were still trying to nudge in.

Jobs in education and health services shows positive growth in the region. The sector added about 6,300 jobs since last December. Construction jobs added 3,800. And about 2,000 jobs were added in the transportation and utilities sectors.

The county’s economic development division is constantly finding ways to promote the region’s economic base.

More than 13,000 entities do business across the county, which includes world-class stores and local storefronts, enjoyed by countless tourists, visitors and residents of Placer County.
