The city of Rocklin will soon be home to a new UC Davis medical campus.

Plans are moving forward for an 835,000 square-foot complex near Highway 65 on W. Ranch View Drive in Rocklin’s Whitney Ranch neighborhood.

The location also occupies a three-story city medical office in partnership with UC Davis and Dignity Health. UC Davis Health purchased 45 acres of land near the facility.

UC Davis will open a 120-bed community hospital with a skilled-nursing unit that will accommodate 50 beds. The new surgery center will have four operating rooms and a 110-room hotel. Research space and a wellness center are also part of the plan.

While the exact timeline and price tag for the project are not known, the hospital will be completed in two phases. Next, UC Davis will conduct the environmental review process and continue discussions with city leaders on the path forward.

This is yet another example of Placer County constantly moving forward. The expansion of medical facilities and the region’s popular restaurants, entertainment, and other destinations continually remind residents why they moved here in the first place.

The UC Davis medical complex will expand the city’s access to not only excellent health care, but high-wage jobs as well.
