For many residents here and across the nation, working from home over the last 10 months is the new normal. Dining tables have become workstations and many have mastered the art of video calls all while adjusting to the new work-life balance.

Not many people are unfamiliar with this new reality. About 40 percent of adults, or someone they live with, have made the switch to full-time teleworking, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Some companies are informing their employees that working from home will be a permanent option once the pandemic ends.

If you live in Roseville, the prospect of working from home on a permanent basis isn’t too bad. A recent survey by Money.com ranked Roseville as the fifth best place for a telecommuter to live in the United States.

Surveying more than 2,000 cities, the survey took a look at cost of living, safety, equality of education, the number of people at home, workspace and other factors that can have an impact on day-to-day life while working from home.

Roseville is connected to the digital world, making it easier for more workers to have greater success on their Zoom calls. About 98 percent of residents in Roseville have adequate internet access, another factor that went into the ranking.

Here are some of the other perks that boosted the city’s profile in the survey.

  • More than 80 percent of residents are within a 10-minute walk of a park, perfect for after-meeting walks.
  • For those who enjoy an occasional takeout lunch, they’ll be happy to know there are about six restaurants per 1,000 Roseville residents.
