A Sprouts Farmers Market may be coming to Lincoln in 2018.

Sprouts, a growing grocery chain with 108 stores in California that specializes in farm-fresh produce purchased from local growers, has requested that the Lincoln Planning Commission approve a conditional use permit to sell beer and wine at its proposed 30,000 square foot location in the Lincoln Crossing retail center.

Sprouts offers a variety of goods, including groceries from around the world, meat and seafood, vitamins and supplements, bakery goods, deli meats, dairy and items in bulk such as trail mix, sugar, flour, grains and more. The wine that would be offered includes samplings from across California, Australia, Chile and Europe. Specialty beers from around the world also would be available.

The Sprouts chain began in Phoenix in 2002 and in 2005, expanded into California.

The conditional use permit will go before the Lincoln City Council on Dec. 20. Staff is recommending that the council approve the permit.

According to the Sacramento Business Journal, Sprouts expects to be open in Lincoln by spring 2018.
