Christmas is over, but for many families across Placer County the holiday fun is going to continue in the form of trips to the snow.

Thankfully, the Squaw Valley Park is now open for free snow play!

Located off of Squaw Valley Road and state Route 89, the Squaw Valley snow park provides a convenient and family-friendly environment to build a snowman, have a snow ball fight and do some sledding. The park, which has public restrooms and opens 30 minutes before sunrise and closes 30 minutes after sunset, will remained plowed throughout winter.

For those who are a little more adventurous, the park also features the Squaw Valley Trailhead and access to the Truckee River bike trail. Paved trails will remain plowed as well.

The park is open during winter thanks to Placer County Park and Trail Master Plan surveys and focus groups that showed residents around the region prefer more snow parks.
